A beautiful day on the links raises funds for a Saskatoon-based charity.
Lux Overhead Door would like to express its gratitude to everyone who helped make the 2018 New Holland Charity Golf Tournament a success. A total of 122 golfers took part in the event on a gorgeous and sunny Saskatchewan day, and funds were raised to support a well-deserving charity organization.
The charity of choice this year was selected by CNH Industrial, a global leader in the capital goods sector. CNH is a designer, producer, and marketer of construction and agricultural equipment, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks and specialty vehicles through its various businesses, in addition to a wide variety of powertrain applications. CNH was proud to select a charity that makes a significant impact right here in our city, the United Way of Saskatoon and Area.
The United Way of Saskatoon and Area has a 50-year history of partnering with community organizations and working to create opportunities for a higher quality of life for local residents. Building their community through mobilization and engagement to improve lives is their primary goal. Their efforts have made an obvious and measurable impact on Saskatoon and its citizens.
The United Way of Saskatoon and Area focuses on:
- Mobilizing and engaging community finances dollars, time, influence, abilities, and actions
- Diagnosing underlying causes and then addressing them
- Coming alongside human-service agencies and the community to strengthen and build their capacity to make a difference
- Influence public perceptions, systems and policies through education, and raising awareness
Some of its activities over the past year include United Way’s Summer Success Literacy camps, employment education, providing bagged lunches to children who may have otherwise gone without, investing in housing initiatives for chronically homeless citizens, after-school programming, cultural activities, counseling sessions, and much more.
